In 1987 Larry was touring extensively with Chet Baker playing concerts, clubs, and festivals in Holland,
France, Italy, Germany, and Sweden. This tour included two stints each a week long at the premier club in
Paris, New Morning, performing to a sold-out house every night.
In August of that year Chet was booked for four nights at the legendary club, Domicile, in Munich.
The band was a quintet with Larry Porter, Nicola Stilo, Rocky Knauer, and Peter Perfido. Huge crowds
showed up to hear these gigs. Among the guests was the great lead trumpet player of Sinatra fame,
Al Porcino, who brought his tape recorder and captured the music for posterity.
The recordings
presented here are from the last night, Saturday, August 15. The following day the musicians
departed for an engagement at the famous Fashing Jazz Club in Stockholm. Just nine months later Chet Baker
passed away at the age of 58.
